MNA’s Infrastructure Committee wants to ensure that your safety and quality of life are a major priority in city design decisions.  We want to ensure road way and infrastructure projects meet the vision of our community.  We advocate for the priorities identified in Midtown community plans and work with partners on the continual evolution of infrastructure planning impacting residents.  Our committee focuses on proactive future planning and we believe that includes solutions for alternative transportation and support for greater use of public transit.

Helping Pedestrians Cross Monroe

The Midtown Neighbors’ Association partnered with ATL DOT’s Vision Zero and Tactical Urbanism team on a project aimed at increasing safety for pedestrians crossing Monroe at Greenwood Avenue. This project temporarily confines vehicular movement to the current rules of the road by extending the curb and stopping cars entering driving lanes too early using paint and some flex posts.

Atlanta’s Vision Zero plan’s overarching goal is to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries in the city.  It pushes ATL DOT to prioritize the needs of the city’s most vulnerable roadway users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, children, older adults, and especially those communities in greatest need. 

Midtown is at the heart of it all and with that comes an intense level of activity and movement through our neighborhood.  MNA believes multi-modal strategy and policy is a major priority for our community.  If you want to share your perspective – please email infrastructure@midtownatlanta.org.

ATLPlus

The Public Parking Management Program in association with ATLPlus is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and revenue collection of parking meters as well as enforcement of on-street parking throughout the City of Atlanta. For more information regarding the issuance of parking citations, please call 404.201.5396.  If you have comments or concerns related to ATLPlus parking management, you may contact the City of Atlanta’s Parking Program Office at 404.330.6501.

PARKMOBILE APP

IS PARKING A CHALLENGE ON YOUR BLOCK?

Areas of Midtown are subject to Residential Parking Permits (RPP).  RPP is a tool to manage curb access for areas where off street parking is not available.  The restrictions of each permit area will vary depending on the location.  If you have limited parking on your block, you and your neighbors may want to consider permit parking. This option is covered in city of Atlanta zoning ordinance:  Ord. No. 2002-56, § 1, Sec 150-159, 150-170.  If your block already has RPP status, learn more about how to obtain a Residential Parking Permit and guest passes on your block.

Initiating RPP status will mean that only residents and their guests can park on your street during the restricted time frames.  RPP residents will need to understand the challenges of planning ahead for entertaining and remembering to issue the pass to your guest to avoid a parking ticket.  Should you and your neighbors determine this is a good option for your block, please note MNA, as an organization, cannot pursue this for you.  All applications for permit parking have to be made by the residents of the subject block.  See the ATL DOT FAQs for more helpful information.

Once established, applications are submitted online.  Permits are provided on an annual basis and have to be renewed.
