MNA launched a new safety awareness program called “Shining Light Safety Walk” in November 2011. The safety initiative was developed by MNA in collaboration with Atlanta Police Department (APD), and joined by Midtown Ponce Security Alliance (MPSA) and Midtown Blue. Our second “Safety Walk” was last March. Since then, 4 other neighborhood organizations in Atlanta have reached out to MNA and expressed interest in developing a similar program for their community.

In February, MNA created an initiative and matched community contributions to fallen APD SPO Gail Thomas’ Family Fund.
As a result of the success of these community safety initiatives, MNA was interviewed and seen on WSB Channel 2, FOX5, 11Alive, CBS Atlanta 46, Atlanta Journal Constitution (feature article), and MidtownPatch.com.
