What does it mean to love our Midtown neighborhood?
Loving our Midtown neighborhood really means several things. It means wanting to be part of a vibrant community of people from all backgrounds. It means being in a city that feels alive and knowing that you are living in the heart of it. Loving our neighborhood also means caring for it and actively participating in it.
What unique qualities do you offer that will continue the positive growth and work of MNA?
I have served on several non-profit boards, all of which required hands-on involvement to make the organization the best it can be. I also have extensive fund-raising experience. My professional life is scaling and growing business and some of those corporate skills are applicable in the non-profit world.
How are you a good Midtown neighbor today?
I am currently involved in the MNA Safety Committee and have been working on whatever projects I can get my hands on there. My house is on the garden tour each year (admittedly
that is in part so I am forced to clean up the yard). I am an active user of the park and any other green spaces we have in the area. I previously worked on a street light project for the neighborhood. Prior to the MNA and MPSA merging, I also participated in events with that organization. I have a trash pole that gets put to use regularly!
Where would you like to see progress in our community?
I want the neighborhood to have even more opportunities to get people together in an informal way e.g. block party concept. More focused events to solve a problem like the “stump grinding” event are great and I’d like to see more of those events.
