WINTER STORM WARNING TAKES EFFECT AT 4 PM
The Atlanta-Fulton Emergency Management Agency is working closely with the National Weather Service to monitor weather conditions affecting Fulton County. A Winter Storm Warning takes effect for all of Fulton County at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 6 and continues through 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 7.
Weather Predictions include:
A mix of light freezing rain, sleet, and rain will likely occur north and west of metro Atlanta (along and north of I-85 corridor)
Between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., an extended period (1-3 hours) of freezing rain and sleet is possible in an area between La Grange-Peachtree City up to Cedartown-Cartersville-Canton-Dawsonville. This may reduce snow totals but increase sleet/ice accumulations.
A changeover to ALL SNOW is still expected to occur later this evening and overnight (from northwest to southeast) with significant (4+ inches)
possible in some locations, including the north/west side of metro Atlanta.
The freezing rain/sleet area will shift south as the transition to snow occurs north, this evening
FULTON OFFICES ARE CLOSED,
ESSENTIAL SERVICES CONTINUE
Fulton County Offices and Facilities closed at noon on Friday, January 6. All Public Facilities will remain closed through Saturday, January 7.
Visitation at the Fulton County Jail after 4 p.m. on Friday, January 6 will be rescheduled.
Essential services will continue throughout the weather event to serve citizens.
