New Parking Restrictions on 8th Street between Argonne and Charles Allen
Saturdays and Sundays 9am-9pm & Monday-Friday 5pm – 9pm
1. Residents can apply and obtain parking permits. Permit stickers are ready now and they can be picked up any time. The contact person to obtain a permit from is Vivian Blackmon. She can be reached at (404) 330-6501 or VABlackmon@AtlantaGa.gov. Permit parking application can be downloaded using the link: http://www.atlantaga.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=6952. Residents can mail applications and supporting documentation with fee checks to Vivian Blackmon. The check needs to be made out to “City of Atlanta”. Ms. Blackmon’s mailing address is City of Atlanta, Department of Public Works, Office of Transportation, 55 Trinity Avenue, S.W., Suite 4900, Atlanta, GA 30303-0324.
2. There will be approximately 10 unrestricted spaces located throughout the street and marked accordingly. These are open to all city residents with or without Midtown parking stickers. Permit parking signs will have arrows defining the zone. Unrestricted areas will have no signs and they will be open for all.
Residential Parking Application Instructions:
Application may be made by mail or in person at: Atlanta City Hall Department of Public Works, 55 Trinity Avenue, SW Suite 4700. (Download a Residential Permit Application) All residential parking permits issued for a discrete residential permit parking area shall have a common expiration date. Full-term permits shall be valid for one year and must be renewed on an annual basis.
Permit terms; Fees (Ordinance 08-0-0872, Section 150-151)
The permit fee is $20.00 per year per permit. Permits are valid for one year from date of issue.
This application must be accompanied by: Copy of Driver’s License for the driver of the permitted vehicle; Additional proof of residency (utility bill, lease contract, etc.); Copy of Current vehicle registration.
The address provided on the application must be an address within a Residential Parking Permit area.
The Residential Parking Permit shall be permanently attached to the inside lower corner of the rear window, driver’s side.
A Residential Parking Permit shall be displayed only on the vehicle described on the permit application.
A Residential Parking Permit does not authorize parking or standing a vehicle in an area where parking is prohibited.
The City Code allows one permit per dwelling unit or per single family address with off-street parking including driveways and two permits per dwelling unit or per single family address without off-street parking including a driveway.
Furnishing false information to obtain a Residential Parking Permit or using such permit in a fraudulent or unlawful manner is punishable by a $1,000 fine or 60 days in jail.
