DESCRIPTION:  \nThe City of Atlanta is divided into twenty-five (25) Neighborhood Planning Units (NPUs)\, which are citizen advisory councils that make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on zoning\, land use\, and other planning-related matters. The NPU system was established in 1974 by the late Mayor Maynard Jackson to provide an opportunity for all citizens to actively participate in the Comprehensive Development Plan\, which is the City’s vision for the next five\, ten\, and fifteen years. Since then the NPU system has evolved into what it is today – the official avenue for residents to receive updates concerning all functions of City government. DESCRIPTION:The Atlanta Beltline will join us at 5:30 PM\, prior to the April Community Meeting\, on 4/27/23 to present their first draft of the SubArea 6 Master Plan update.  Please note there is a separate link for this session.   \nIn this presentation\, ABL will introduce the update draft for the first time and provide an opportunity for us to ask questions of their team.  In May\, we will spend time digesting their recommendations and determining any update to our feedback.  These discussions will take place in our Land Use and Infrastructure meetings.  Check out our calendar for those dates.  The Atlanta Beltline will also provide a method for community members to provide feedback directly to their team and share any future public community sessions they have planned.\n \nThrough our Land Use and Infrastructure Committees\, MNA participated in stakeholder and public community meetings\, hosted by the Atlanta Beltline\, over the last year.  Understanding the critical importance of this update\, MNA contracted Canvass Planning Group to assist with aligning the Beltline update with our Garden District Master Plan. DESCRIPTION:  \nEach month there is a public meeting of the Midtown Development Review Committee – comprised of 10 individuals representing residents\, property and business owners\, institutions\, neighborhood associations\, and MARTA.  The committee\, appointed by the City of Atlanta\, provides formal recommendations to the Office of Planning on all Special Administrative Permit (SAP) applications within the Midtown SPI-16 and SPI-17 zoning districts. \nThe Midtown residential community is represented by two members of the DRC.  Midtown Neighbors’ Association\, currently represented by Jenny Williams\, and NPU-E\, currently represented by Coleman Morris\, advocate for the interests of the community in the review of both large scale major developments and smaller renovations within the Midtown Improvement District (a part of the Midtown Neighborhood.) \nMidtown DRC meetings are managed by the Midtown Alliance and are scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month.  The meetings are held in person on the 5th Floor of 999 Peachtree at 5:30 PM.  Applicants must submit project information (project narrative\, site plan\, elevations\, renderings) one week in advance in order to be placed on the agenda. \nYou can find the archive and current agendas here: \nhttps://www.midtownatl.com/about/programs-and-projects/planning-and-urban-design/midtown-development-review-committee

Neighbors Jeff Burns and Stormie Israel are coordinating a spring planting day on March 25\, 2023 with Trees Atlanta.  They will be planting 30 trees! \nDo you know a good spot for a new tree?  Email Jeff and Stormie with the following information: \n– right-of-way locations:  closest address \n– is the location under power lines? \n– how many trees could be installed (best estimate\, the team will confirm) \n– indication of a special tree request (Trees Atlanta will suggest otherwise) \nThe planting day is a great opportunity for you to volunteer. Roll up your sleeves and help get these beauties in the ground!  Read about the work scope and liability waiver here and then email Jeff & Stormie so they can expect you.

Proceeds from the Auction are a vital part of the Museum’s exhibition and education plan\, helping to make special exhibitions possible. The funds raised also provide dynamic youth educational programs which draw more than 60\,000 schoolchildren to the High each year.
