SUMMARY:NPU-E Special Meeting: ABG Expansion Q&A
DESCRIPTION:The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are expanding.  The project team recently submitted four zoning applications for various amendments related to the current project proposal.  \nWhile the project site sits in NPU-E / Midtown\, the impact of the proposal affects multiple neighborhoods and two NPUs including Midtown\, Ansley Park\, Morningside Lenox Park\, and Piedmont Heights.  The project also involves numerous stakeholders including the communities\, Piedmont Park Conservancy\, ATLDOT\, Atlanta Beltline\, and Department of Parks and Recreation.   \nNPU-E has invited the land use committee leadership of the affected neighborhoods to join a meeting with the project team to gather facts about the proposal\, ask clarifying questions\, and request additional information.   \nThis meeting will focus on allowing neighborhood land use leaders to conduct Q&A to use our time efficiently and will not entertain motions for any vote\, conclusions\, or recommendations. Each neighborhood will conduct discussion in their forums as appropriate.   \nYou are invited to join the special meeting to listen to the Q&A and then join the Midtown Land Use Committee meeting to follow for discussion on Midtown’s recommendation.   \nNPU-E Meeting: Atlanta Botanical Garden Expansion Q&A \nTuesday\, 2/20/24 at 5:00 PM \nVirtual: meeting link here

DESCRIPTION:  \nThe City of Atlanta is divided into twenty-five (25) Neighborhood Planning Units (NPUs)\, which are citizen advisory councils that make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on zoning\, land use\, and other planning-related matters. The NPU system was established in 1974 by the late Mayor Maynard Jackson to provide an opportunity for all citizens to actively participate in the Comprehensive Development Plan\, which is the City’s vision for the next five\, ten\, and fifteen years. Since then the NPU system has evolved into what it is today – the official avenue for residents to receive updates concerning all functions of City government. Enabling residents to express concerns and provide input helps the City in developing plans that best meet the needs of each neighborhood. \nMidtown resides in NPU-E which meets on the first Tuesday of every month. \nYou can find the current agenda and link to join the virtual meeting on the City of Atlanta NPU directory one week before the meeting.   \nMidtown is represented on the NPU-E Board by Midtown Neighbors’ Association.  The Board of Directors appoints a representative from MNA to serve on the NPU- E Board. \nYou can learn more about the NPU system here: \nwww.npuatlanta.org \nYou can learn more about NPU-E here: \nwww.npueatlanta.org \nYou can reach your Midtown NPU-E representative here: \npresident@midtownatlanta.org
