Stormie and her partner, Dr. Julio Petilon, moved to Atlanta in 2015 and lived in almost every neighborhood in the city before falling in love with the eclectic charm of Midtown and deciding to make it their permanent Atlanta home in 2020. They reside in the Historic Garden District area in a 100-year-old craftsman that entertains the neighborhood by transforming annually into Flamingo Royale as part of the Krewe of House Floats. Upon moving to the neighborhood, Stormie immediately took an interest in Midtown’s greenspaces and began to look for ways to get involved. Shortly thereafter, she became an active member of the Midtown Neighbors’ Association and joined the MNA Board of Directors as the Gardens Committee Chairman.
Stormie serves as a Public Health Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) within the Division of Physical Activity Nutrition and Obesity (DNPAO). Prior to relocating to Atlanta, she investigated Medicare and Medicaid fraud for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in Baltimore, Maryland. Stormie is originally from Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Gerontology.
If you see Stormie out and about in the neighborhood or working in her yard, do stop and say hello. She’d love to show you unsolicited pictures of their three Bengal cats, tell you all about her new Midtown Mardi Gras project, or discuss gardening ideas and ponder why she just cannot manage to grow grass.
